We're Back!

Yes, it's been quite a while since the last post, but we're alive and well at The Daddy Day Care. Christmas was a whirlwind for us this year, but wonderful. The house did not close on time, due to weather, so we were able to travel to Pennsylvania to spend Christmas with my side of the family (the pic is of my folks with all the grandkids). It was a long trip but so worth it. My oldest sister and her husband hosted us all and she did a fabulous job or planning and making the time very special. We made the return trip non-stop so we could be back in time to celebrate with Leslie's family, do our walk through, celebrate Aggie's birthday, and close on the house on the 30th of December.

Aggie's birthday was really special. We had a party with a Dora cake, pizza, and games. She was enthralled with all the attention. She had her hair done up (by cousin Hannah) and was looking a little too grown up for me! She had learned how to do "3" with her fingers the traditional way as well as the Buckwheat "otay" way (thanks to Uncle Rob).

One of her favorite (and certainly most used) presents was a box of dressup shoes and jewelry from Nannie. I think her shoe fetish has already begun!

On New Year's Eve, we spent our first night in our new house. Our neighbor put on a fireworks show just in time to entertain the kids so that we could finish putting their beds together for bedtime. They stood in the front window and were enthralled.

As the house was getting settled, Munchkin enjoyed discovering all the new places and things to get into, including the cabinets. She has kept us busy keeping her out of things and off the stairs. She's much braver than her big sister when it comes to climbing into and onto things and has enjoyed her share of spills and falls. Until recently she hasn't had to say much, but a few days ago when I wouldn't pick her up, she finally said "hold you." I couldn't resist then.

The move went as good as can be expected. A good friend of ours, Micah, came to help me with the Uhaul and was so gracious to give up two days to help us. We were able to get almost everything in the house in those two days but still have a ways to go when it comes to getting settled.

This past weekend, two of our favorite people came to see us. Pappy and Nana (as the kids affectionately call them) drove over from Birmingham on Saturday to bring us a few things we left behind. Bill & Carol helped us get our kitchen settled as well as other general settling in.

Today a box arrived with some Christmas gifts from some other friends of ours. Newlyweds Katie & Mike sent some goodies for the kids (and for us!). The highlight was watching Aggie with the ballerina outfit they sent. Below are some pictures. The first one is how she first put it on. I didn't even know there was a top to it (and neither did she). She then pranced around the kitchen, raising her arms. It took me a minute to realize that she was looking past me and into the oven to see her reflection. Leslie commented that if we put a few mirrors in her room she would stay in there all day!!
We are so thankful to God for our new home and we look forward to many years of making memories here!
